Franklin Hotel Remodel

Back to SECO Projects | Back to Historic Category

The Franklin Hotel Remodel Master Craftsmanship Award winning project revitalized an iconic building in historic Deadwood, SD. The construction project maintained the historical integrity of the building but provided code required improvements. The project was delivered on a Fast-Track delivery project management method that included a complete remodel and addition to the lobby and basement of the Historic Franklin Hotel that was originally built in 1903. Work required opening existing two-foot-thick stone walls that supported four floors above without compromising the structure of the existing building. SECO worked closely with the design team to develop support systems and construction methods that would achieve the owner’s goal of an open floor plan that allowed for improved social movement and better sightlines on the gaming floor. Mechanical and electrical systems were replaced with new efficient systems of sufficient capacity for future renovations of the rest of the facility. A new elevator was also installed.
